New Zealand took a 2-1 lead over South Korea after winning the doubles in their Asia/Oceania Group I tie in Auckland on Saturday.

Marcus Daniell and Artem Sitak fought back after dropping the second set to beat Chung Hong and Lee Jea Moon 6-2, 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7/4).

The New Zealanders broke twice to take the third set 6-4 but were in trouble again in the fourth set with Chung and Lee up 5-4 and holding serve.

Daniell and Sitak stepped up a gear to break back and go on to push the set into a tie-break which they won 7-4.

"We're really happy the way we closed it out," Daniell said.

"But from 5-4 and a break down in the fourth to come back and get match points at 6-5, and win the (tie) break relatively convincingly, we're really happy how we responded to the pressure situations."

The tie will be decided in the reverse singles on Sunday with New Zealand's Rubin Statham playing the top Korean Kwon Soon Woo and Michael Venus to play Hong Seong Chan.
