Argentine football legend Diego Maradona has accused his ex-wife Claudia Villafane and daughters Dalma and Giannina of stealing 3.4 Million Pounds between 2000 and 2015 and he has also called for one of the daughters to be jailed for the alleged fraud.
Maradona claims that the trio transferred the stolen money to a bank account in Uruguay and used it to buy property in USA.
"In the middle of the court case for fraud, Giannina Maradona left Argentina on Monday, August 31st and returned a few hours later. What was she doing that Monday in Uruguay? Tourism?," Maradona's lawyer was quoted as saying by Spanish Newspaper Marca.
"I say to you that she has an account in Uruguay, her child takes the money and puts it into another. If that is the case, if there is money there like we think, then there is no option other than to be put in custody," he added.
However, Giannina refuted such claims on social media and wrote on Twitter: "They know where I live and they can come when they want Thanks for all the warm messages. I am fine with myself inside, I have forgiven worse from him and I will do the same now."
Maradona was married to Villafane from 1998 to 2003 and she is accused of being the mastermind of this alleged fraud.
The 1986 World Cup winner retired from professional football in 1997 and currently coaches Fujairah SC football club in the UAE.
