Paris: Carla Suarez Navarro is up to a career-best sixth in the WTA world rankings following her win in the Doha tournament on Saturday.

It was just the second top-tier title of the Spaniard's career and it moved her up five places just ahead of Maria Sharapova who is down one place.

Serena Williams, who has missed the last two tournaments due to injury, remains in top place ahead of Australian Open winner Angelique Kerber, while Spain's Garbine Muguruza is up one place to fourth.

Among men, Dominic Thiem is up to 14th in the ATP world rankings following his second tournament win inside a month in Acapulco.

The 22-year-old Austrian, who has been tipped for stardom for some time, won the tournament in Buenos Aires in mid-February and on Sunday he defeated Australian hope Bernard Tomic in three sets. Tomic moves up one place to 20th.

The top 10 is unchanged with Stanislas Wawrinka consolidating his fourth ranking by winning the tournament in Dubai.

Top-ranked Novak Djokovic was forced to withdraw from that tournament with an eye infection, while Roger Federer is sidelined after a knee operation.
