Many fans who were expecting the dream match between Roman Reigns and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson at WrestleMania 37 next month will be disappointed as it may not take place. However, Paul Heyman said that there is a possibility of a match. Reigns will defend his Universal Championship title against WWE Hall of Famer Edge. Before that, he has to successfully triumph over Daniel Bryant at Fastlane. Ever since the Tribal Chief returned last year, there has been a lot of noise over him facing the People’s Champ one day.
Heyman, in a recent interview with GiveMeSport said, “The Rock is just one of many big names contacting him about potential matches against the WWE Universal Champion Reigns.”
Further adding to the speculation he said, “Crossover celebrities in their prime would love to step into a WrestleMania ring with Roman Reigns and The Rock is just one of many. “However, during the course of the interview, Heyman didn’t reveal who else has been in contact with him for a match. But he did reaffirm that Reigns and not his opponent would be WWE’s biggest draw in any match.
“He’s the star. He’s the be-all and end-all. He’s the attraction for WrestleMania. Roman Reigns vs fill in the blank,” he added.
The idea of The Rock vs Reigns has been out there ever since the latter was elevated to main event status. However, speculation was kicked into overdrive last year when Reigns returned and quickly turned to capture the WWE Universal Championship. While Johnson, in an interview last month, stated that he’d be ‘honored’ to have one more match against a member of his family.
Meanwhile, the Tribal Chief has been stating he’s the only star big enough to bring the Hollywood/WWE star back into the squared circle. But if WWE could one day organise the match between the two superstars, then it would be absolutely monumental.
