New Delhi: English football giants Arsenal FC have finally got their hands on the striker that they really wanted in the January Transfer Window as Gabon star Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has joined the Gunners, on deadline day.
Aubameyang joins Arsenal from German giants Borussia Dortmund on a club record fee of 56 million pounds, eclipsing the 46.5 million pounds paid to French side Olympique Lyonnais for forward Alexandre Lacazette last year.
The hot-shot striker also becomes the best paid player in the history of the club as he is being paid 180,000 pounds per week by the Gunners and he has put pen to paper for three and a half years.
The star striker scored 98 goals in 144 Bundesliga games for Dortmund and had a hand in 172 goals in 213 matches in all competitions for his former club. The deal was announced on social media by both teams and Arsenal's Twitter post read: "#YoPierre"
While Dortmund also posted a video on Twitter, thanking the Gabon star for his services over the past few years: "Merci, Auba!"
The 28-year-old is Gabon's all-time top goalscorer with 23 goals from 56 matches and was named the African Footballer of the Year in 2015.
