World Number 1 Rafael Nadal continues his hunt for yet another French Open title as swatted away the challenge of Frenchman Richard Gasquet 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 at the Court Philippe Chatrier to progress to the fourth round.

After that, during the customary post-match interview on the court, Nadal was once again reminded of his huge fan following and told off one of the ball boys on the court.

The presenter told Nadal, “You have a lot of fans around the world but this ball kid is your biggest fan and it’s his dream to play just one ball against you….”

The Spanish ace then walked over and picked out two tennis rackets from his bag and handed one to the awestruck ball boy before whispering something to him whilst the crowd cheered on the moment.

The ten time French Open champion Nadal then took his position on one side of the net on the court and proceeded to rally with the ball boy.

The young boy sent the first into the net, but went onto show off his backhand and forehand shots as the fans at Philippe Chatrier applauded.

Commentator John McEnroe, former American tennis player, told Eurosport: “That is very unusual but he has plenty of support – I wonder if he will do better than Gasquet?”

The exhibition was an excellent way to end the penultimate day before Rafael Nadal’s birthday. The 32-year-old will now face German Maximilian Marterer in the last-16.
