New Delhi: After the glory of winning a bronze at the Rio Olympics in 2016, 2017 has brought personal glory for wrestler Sakshi Malik as she tied the knot with her wrestler fiance Satyawart Kadian on Sunday in her Nandal Bhawan, Rohtak. Sakshi and Styawart had got engaged in October last year.
Despite bringing laurels to the country, it is her fight with the Haryana government in the last couple of months that has seen her hog the limelight. But all that should take a backseat now that she has started a new journey.
And not just wrestlers, but even the likes of former India opener Virender Sehwag and badminton sensation Saina Nehwal took to Twitter to wish the wrestler.
In fact, Sehwag even apologised for not being able to make it to the ceremony as he is busy with KXIP in the IPL.
Wish you a very happy married life @SakshiMalik . Couldn't make it because of IPL camp. Best wishes for a life of joy and no kushti at home— Virender Sehwag (@virendersehwag) April 2, 2017
Saina on her part congratulated Sakshi on starting the new innings.
Gymnast Dipa Karmakar also took the opportunity to wish the couple a happy married life.
Congratulations @SakshiMalik shaadi par. Happy married life apko aur satyawart ko :)— Dipa Karmakar (@DipaKarmakar) April 3, 2017
Sakshi had herself tweeted pictures of pre-wedding preparations on Saturday.
Earlier Sakshi had said that it was the love for wrestling that got the couple closer.
“We are from Rohtak. We met and bonded through our common love for wrestling. He’s very supportive. It’s a great feeling that we both are taking part in several competitions and are receiving accolades for the same, there couldn’t be a happier feeling than this. We often give tips to each other to improve our wrestling techniques,” she had said.
