With the football transfer season hotting up, activity among the European clubs is reaching frenetic levels as they look to finalise the moves of their top transfer targets. While some big clubs have managed to land the stars they were looking to, negotiations are on for several other top moves. It is also the season of rumours as top stars across big leagues are linked with possible moves to big clubs.

We at News18 Sports look at the possibility of some top moves and why they should or shouldn't work out.

Neymar to Paris Saint-Germain FC

Brazilian star Neymar dos santos has been linked to the 6 times League 1 winners Paris Saint-Germain and if the deal goes through, he would join up with his international team mates Dani Alves, Thiago Silva and Lucas Moura this summer. The 25 year old who plays a diaphragm role at the club has received numerous awards including 5 Puskas awards and secured 3rd place in the Fifa Ballon D’or 2016.

Neymar though has been overshadowed by the likes of Messi and Luis Suarez over the past few seasons and a desire to hog the limelight and win personal awards could see him switch over to the French capital.

Why should he stay at the club?

Despite starring since his move from Santos, Neymar has spent the majority of his time at Barcelona playing second fiddle to Lionel Messi. He has played a major role for the club to bring trophies and victories and selling him is not something the club would think about.

There have been conjectures that the Brazilian is looking to build his own craft and identity rather than being overshadowed by Lionel Messi.

With PSG willing to activate Neymar’s release clause with a jaw dropping 222 million euro contract deal, the Barcelona star is still in a fix to make a move as his departure will leave a void in the synergy of the MSN trio as it is unlikely to find a viable replacement.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to Chelsea

Aubameyang has been linked to the 2016/17 English Premier league title winners Chelsea as Antonio Conte bid 65 million euros for the Bundesliga star striker who was the German top flight’s top scorer last season with 31 league goals, and 40 in all competitions.

Why should he move to Chelsea?

Antonio Conte has already missed out on his top target Romelu Lukaku who was supposed to be Chelsea’s no.1 transfer this summer but made a move to Manchester United instead, and signing Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid is proving difficult too as his move to AC Milan is nearly confirmed.

As Nemanja Matic and Diego Costa are likely to leave Chelsea this summer after being left out of the blues squad for the pre-season tour. The 28-year old is the perfect replacement to fit in the team sheet as Conte eagerly looks to bolster attack and Diego Costa was a surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, states Conte.

Chelsea are leading the battle against the Reds to sign Aubameyang as reports claim that even Aubameyang’s a target for Liverpool too as it will give him a chance to reunite with former Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp.

Riyad Mahrez to A.S Roma

A.S Roma bid 30 million euros for the Algerian winger and Leicester talisman, who won the PFA Player of the year award in 2016 and won the title for Leicester city during the season 2015/16, scoring just 6 goals in the premier league.

Why should he move to Roma?

Mahrez had a wonderful season at the club but is now looking desperately to play Champions league football next season.

The 2016 PFA player wishes to play for Arsenal or Barca this summer but Roma is showing great interest in the 26-year old and wants the winger to replace Mohammad Salah’s position who moved to Liverpool this season.

With no interest shown from Arsenal and Barca till now, Roma still leads to win the Mahrez race as the Algerian is keen to move this summer.

Also according to the reports, Roma Sporting Director Monchi met up with Mahrez’s representative recently to discuss a move.
