Olympic champion Pedro Pichardo of Portugal won the men’s triple jump title at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene on Saturday.
In the absence of American multiple global medal winner Christian Taylor, Cuban-born Pichardo sailed out to a winning 17.95 metres on his first attempt.
World and Olympic bronze medallist Hugues Fabrice Zango of Burkina Faso claimed silver with 17.55m, while China’s Yaming Zhu took bronze (17.31).
