The Wednesday night episode of WWE NXT was undoubtedly one of the most high on entertainment and action kind of episodes. Not only did one witness some killer moves, but also got to see some intense drama in-between matches. Io Shirai and Finn Balor managed to retain their respective NXT Championship titles while Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon defeated Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai to bag the WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship title.
Here is a quick look at everything that happened in March 10 episode of WWE NXT:
WWE NXT Women’s Championship- Io Shirai vs Toni Storm: Shirai retained the title after defeating Storm through submission. During the course of the match Storm seemed to be in full form and it seemed that she was in no mood for giving anything less than her best. However, as the match progressed she made a couple of moves that seemed to have caused irreparable damage till the very end of the match. One of the biggest things that worked against Storm was when she went for a diving headbutt which completely missed to attack Shirai.
Pete Dunne (w/ Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan) vs. Jake Atlas: Since the very beginning of this match it seemed as that Jake Atlas was at a clear disadvantage against Pete Dunne. Despite this the match became a bit intense at a few places during the bout. Atlas’ standing moonsault and release suplex was clearly one of the main highlights of this match. Even though he did give a strong performance he was unable to register the win against Pete Dunne after they forced him to a point where he had no option but to submit.
WWE NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship – Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon vs Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai: Moon and Blackheart defeated Gonzalez and Kai via pinfall to bag the NXT women’s tag team championship title. The challengers came in the ring with the mindset to win come what may. This became more evident when they worked a mechanism to isolate Kai and attacked her with a couple of breathtaking moves. The match took an interesting turn after Blackheart caught Kai for the three-count.
Kayden Carter (w/ Kacy Catanzaro) vs. Xia Li (w/ Tian Sha): This was perhaps one of the shorter matches of the episode. The bout began with Li trapping Carter’s leg right next to the steel barricade. On seeing this Catanzaro certainly lost her cool and attacked Li with a crutch. This led to a disqualification and that is how Li registered the win.
The Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Legado del Fantasma: This was a rather boring match of an action-packed episode. The Grizzled Young Veterans were seen making fun of Legado del Fantasma for being lackeys. Legado del Fantasma registered the win after James Drake got distracted and Wilde used the opportunity. The Grizzled Young Veterans were defeated via pinfall.
WWE NXT Championship- Finn Balor def. Adam Cole: The match began with both the wrestlers punching each other heavily. The high point was when Finn made an impact after a dropkick and standing elbow drop. The bout ended with Fin retaining the WWE NXT Championship title after defeating Adam Cole via pinfall.
