The latest episode of NXT featured appearances from several champions and a healthy mix of singles and tag team matches from the men’s and women’s ranks. Jordan Devlin returned to NXT to stake claim as the rightful cruiserweight champion. Zoey Stark was back to cross swords with Dakota Kai,while Dexter Lumis faced Austin Theory.
Here are results of WWE NXT matches that took place on March 17:
Dexter Lumis vs Austin Theory
Dexter Lumis was forced to the floor by Austin Theory. But after getting his face bounced off a few times, he shook off the initial assault. Later in the ring, Theory avoided a running boot in the corner and hit a slingshot rolling dropkick. Lumis bore little more damage before he hit a spinebuster out of nowhere to give himself some time. Right before the end, Lumis knocked Theory down with a clothesline but then offered him his hand to help him up. Theory took it and tried to hug him, as Lumis used the opportunity to put on a chokehold, but he broke free. Lumis got out and finally locked in the Silence.

Dakota Kai vs Zoey Stark
Post facing defeat in the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles last week, Dakota Kai needed a big win this week. But it wasn’t an easy task for her. As soon as the duo exchanged pleasantries, things got going as Stark brought Kai down in a hammerlock and started to work on her arm. Kai then was able to get Stark in the corner and nail her with a running kick to the face for a two-count. After a break and a string of quick offensive manoeuvres, Kai nailed her with a superkick as she came flying into the ring from the top rope but was unsuccessful to get the pin. In the end, Kai hit the Kota Kick for the pin and the win.

Marcel Barthel w/Fabian Aichner vs Tommaso Ciampa
Prior to the bout,Tommaso Ciampa attacked Imperium’s Marcel Barthel and Fabian Aichner. But as soon as the match started, Ciampa went right after Barthel. He fought back and wrestled Ciampa down to the mat and kept him grounded with a headlock. Meanwhile, Aichner recovered and made his way back to ringside to watch Barthel choke Ciampa with the middle rope. Moments later, Ciampa sent Barthel into Aichner before hitting him with the Widow’s Bell DDT for the win.

Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch vs Karrion Kross w/ Scarlett and NXT Champion Finn Balor – NXT Tag Team Championship
The match felt like a countdown as Finn Balor opened the show in the ring and immediately called out Karrion Kross. NXT tag team champions, Oney Lorcan and Danny Burchstepped in to declare Balor should face Pete Dunne and not Kross. As words were exchanged, Balor accidentally struck Scarlett Bordeaux. Kross started strong and wore Burch down with a bearhug and followed to hit both champions with a suplex. Post break, Lorcan ruled for a while against Balor, until the NXT champion employed an overhead kick. Lorcan somehow prevented a tag, but Balor had a building momentum and hit a sling blade and followed by a running dropkick that sent Lorcan crashing into Scarlett. Lorcan and Burch went in for a double-team suplex, but Kross countered the two of them. Lorcan was able to capitalize on it and score the pin to retain the titles, but had to suffer from Kross’ fury.

Breezango vs Legado Del Fantasma
Action started early on as Mendoza tried to get an early advantage, but Fandango saw him coming and knocked him down with one quick shot. Del Fantasma was able to gain control when Fandango got back in the ring. But Mendoza knocked him off the top rope to the floor with a running kick as the show went into a break. After some big moves, hits and misses Mendoza broke up a pin to save his partner after a Supermodel Kick from Breeze. Wilde broke away but was rocked with a sidekick, Mendoza was able to break up the pinfall just in time. With Fandango taken out on the floor, Del Fantasma was able to wipe Breeze out with their finish.

LA Knight vs August Grey
LA Knight finally made his in-ring debut for NXT, and utterly demolished August Grey. This was Knight’s first match since being a developmental athlete in 2014. The former Eli Drakeeasily took control, but Bronson Reed made an appearance to distract him. The big man destroyed Knight’s jacket which almost allowed Grey to roll him up for the win. However, Knight made a quick comeback and hit his finisher for an easy win.
