Game Of Thrones Season 7: Why you'll Love To Watch it on Apple iPad Pro

The Apple iPad Pro 10.5-inch is easily one of the best screens to watch streaming content on. The reason why I chose it to watch the season opener of Game Of Thrones.

Yes, it was that day when finally Game of Thrones Season 7 opening episode was streaming on Hotstar. I had two options of watching the show on, it was either the new Xiaomi phone that's all set to launch on 18th July because Big is Back or the recently launched iPad Pro 10.5-inch. I chose the later and boy, was that the right decision. At 7:30 am in the morning, Hotstar was facing some issues and people were a bit frustrated as tweets started pouring in about streaming issues for Hotstar premium customers. So, I waited till 8:00 am to start the streaming on the iPad Pro. Apple announced the new 10.5-inch iPad Pro at this years WWDC and it's not as big as a 12.5-inch iPad pro. It is just the right size to keep it on the side of your bed and watch Game Of Thrones with a hot cup of tea in the bed.

The display of the new iPad Pro is 10.5 inch and the size surprisingly remains similar to the 9.7-inch iPad. Apple says it's also their most advanced display till date. The redesigned Retina display is brighter and less reflective for sure. But what I was really interested in experiencing with Game Of Thrones on the new iPad was its ProMotion technology. This promises to deliver a refresh rate of 120Hz. This basically means everything on its display is more responsive than the earlier iPads and it adjusts the refresh rate depending on the App that you use or the video you watch. So it's more life like. It also promises a wide colour gamut and claims of lifelike colours. Its True Tone display adapts the colour and intensity of the display for a more natural, comfortable viewing experience as well. I had experienced this while playing games and watching Netflix, but this was my first time using Hotstar for streaming.

What I was also looking forward to was the sound quality on the iPad Pro. Four speaker audio system on the new iPad pro promises an immersive sound experience. I was quite confident that it would not disappoint me, especially because while gaming the audio on the new iPad Pro delivered exceptionally rich stereo sound. And it usually does not matter whether you hold the device in landscape or portrait mode. The speakers adjust depending on how you hold the device. The bass on the speakers is also well balanced as all four speakers give out optimal bass and the mid and high frequencies always come from the topmost speakers.

So, on all counts, I was sure that this was just the right device to catch the season opener for Game Of Thrones early on a Monday morning. And well, as expected I was not left disappointed at all. The Apple iPad Pro 10.5-inch was just the right device for me. The colours were real, the display was crisp (Thanks to my High-Speed Broadband) and the audio clarity and quality was just superb.

But There is a Catch
The Apple iPad Pro 10.5-inch runs on iOS11 and it's the Beta version that I was using. Now Game of Thrones is also one of the most sort after show, that's prone to piracy. Now to keep a check on that, Hotstar usually blacks out screenshots and screen recordings on most of the Android devices. But, the story with the iPad Pro running iOS11 was a bit different. The iOS 11 now finally comes with an inbuilt screen recording feature, and just for kicks, I turned it on, thinking that when the show opener for Game Of Thrones ends, I'll just have a black screen with audio. And to my surprise, the moment the episode ended with Khalisi nearing her destiny, I ended the screen record and there it was in my library, the full episode of Game Of Thrones episode 1 all set for me to well share it with anyone I like. I won't be doing that of course. But, here's something that both Hotstar and Apple need to fix with their respective app and operating system. In the wrong hands, the iPad pro can be a gadget that can be misused.

All in all the experience of streaming content (given that your internet speeds are good) is an extremely satisfying experience. No wonder we are the new screenagers for which a TV is not the only screen that we like to watch our shows on.
