New Delhi: Huawei is all set to launch its much-awaited new flagship smartphone - the P9 - in India on August 17. The Huawei P9 features a dual-lens rear camera co-engineered with Germany's Leica, a 102-year-old renowned camera firm.
Huawei hopes that Leica's camera technology on its new flagship phone will set it apart from other Android devices on the market.
The dual-lens 12 megapixel camera on the rear of the device separately captures monochrome and colour images separately and combines them to produce more detailed and brighter colours than rival single-lens cameras.
According to Huawei, consumers are increasingly focused on the photographic capability of smartphones, and the company wanted to partner the best in the field.
Talking about other specs, the P9 smartphone features a 5.2-inch full HD display and runs on Android 6.0 operating system with EMUI 4.1 atop. It has an 8 megapixel front camera and a 3000 mAh battery.
Rumours suggest that the company will launch a couple of others phones at the P9 launch in India in August.
Huawei became the first Chinese company to ship more than 100 million smartphones, recording a 44 per cent jump in devices to 108 million last year.
