LeEco will also launch smart devices such as 3D Helmet, LeMe Bluetooth Headphone and other LeEco ecosystem products like super TV, electric car and music services, among others.

New Delhi: Chinese electronics firm LeEco, which was until early this month known by the name of LeTV, is all set to enter India. While the company is going to announce a wide range of products in India today at its press conference in Gurgaon, the highlight of the event will to be its phones.

To start with, the company will introduce two new phones - Le 1s and Le Max - for the Indian market. While the former is a budget device, the latter is a flagship phone for the country. The company is yet to reveal the pricing and availability details of both the phones.

The Le Max, which is known as the world's first phone with USB Type-C, was unveiled to the world back in April 2015, while the Le 1s was announced in October last year.

The Le Max has a 6.3-inch display, octa core Snapdragon 810 processor clocked at 2.0 GHz, 4 GB RAM, 64/128 GB of internal storage, and a 21-megapixel camera with optical stabilisation and dual-tone flash.

The Le 1s, on the other hand, features an all-metal body housing a Mediatek flagship Helio X10 Turbo octa-core processor, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB storage, and a reversible USB Type-C with fast-charging SpeedVolt technology.

Besides, the company will also launch smart devices such as 3D Helmet, LeMe Bluetooth Headphone and other LeEco ecosystem products like super TV, electric car and music services, among others.

It was early this month when the company changed its name from LeTV (pronounced L-E-T-V) to LeEco and also showed a new logo for the company. The company re-branded itself as LeEco in line with its global expansion plans.

LeEco is planning to set-up a research and development centre in India with a team of about 1,000 people.

"We are very interested in this market, and we can build our R&D centre and manufacturing base here. The R&D centre alone, by the end of 2016, could be possibly 1,000 staff strong," Le Holdings Co Ltd Vice President Tin Mok told PTI.

He, however, did not disclose the fund LeECo has earmarked for India but said "the investment will be huge".

Started by two founders, Jia Yueting and Liu Hong, in a small office in Beijing, the company today is expanding its businesses globally.
