What sets apart the P9 is that it is the first result of the tie-up between the world's third biggest smartphone maker and Leica Camera AG, a 102-year-old firm whose cameras have shot some of the most famous images in the history of photography.
China-based Huawei unveiled its P9, P9 Plus flagship smartphones today. The phones feature a dual-lens camera that has been co-engineered with Germany's Leica. What sets apart the P9 is that it is the first result of the tie-up between the world's third biggest smartphone maker and Leica Camera AG, a 102-year-old firm whose cameras have shot some of the most famous images in the history of photography. The P9 features a 5.5-inch FHD display with 1080p resolution and under its hood is a Huawei Kirin 955(64-bit) octa-core chipset coupled with 4 GB RAM. The phone includes 64 GB of internal storage. The dual-lens 12 megapixel camera on the rear of the device separately captures monochrome and colour images, and combines them to create more detail, depth and brighter colours than rival single lens cameras. It further comes with an 8 megapixel front camera with auto focus. The Android Marshmallow-powered P9 will be available in 29 countries from April 16, priced from 599 euros ($684). The differentiating factor between the P9 and P9 Plus other than network specifications is that P9 is available as a dual SIM model with one SIM supporting NFC, while the P9 Plus is only available as a single SIM choice. The choice of colours is limited to three for the P9 Plus while the P9 is available in six colour choices. Here's the P9 and P9 Plus in photos:
