Skipping around the Android 7.0 update, Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge users might directly receive the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update on the smartphones.

An XDA developers’ member posted a screenshot of a conversation with a Samsung official stating that the devices will directly receive Android 7.1.1 update as soon as it is officially released.

Most of the tech community thought that the devices would first receive Android 7.0 as an update.

The 7.1 update is already running on Google’s Pixel and 7.1.1 was recently rolled out with minor bug fixes and new features.

This could see a significant change in Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge as the devices were previously running on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

Though the update is expected to come latest by early 2017, there is no official date for the release of the Nougat update by the company.

Android 7.1.1 update has officially been released for all the Google based smartphones and includes features like app shortcuts, smart storage, new camera app, new emojis, support tab, reset button and moves menu.
