Purab currently has a PS3 gaming console and is planning to upgrade to PS4 - thought not anytime soon.

New Delhi: February 23 is Purab Kohli's birthday, and it isn't actually a coincidence that the actor-anchor features in this edition of Star Tech today.

Happy Birthday, Purab!

On his birthday, we unwrap the tech-enthusiast in Purab and try to bring out for his fans 11 things tech about him that many probably didn't know about.

1. Purab is an Apple fanboy and he proudly admitted to it in a candid conversation with IBNLive.

Purab has been using his 3-year-old iPhone 4S (64GB) and has plans to buy himself a new 128GB iPhone 6 Plus - one that sits at the top of the current iPhone spectrum. It's a jump - both in terms of generations and storage capacity. He also own a MacBook and an iMac.

2. He loves to take selfies and often uses a selfie stick. Purab says he likes the perspectives the selfie stick gives. Though the handheld monopod he uses is borrowed from a friend, Purab is planning to buy one soon.

3. Wearable camera GoPro is another thing that Purab likes to play with and rents one whenever he needs one. He believes that such devices are very expensive and get dated quickly, and, therefore, he finds renting better than owning. The first time he had used a GoPro was during a shoot for travel show 'Life Mein Ek Baar' on Fox Traveller in 2011.

4. It was only 4 months back when Purab added an Amazon Kindle Fire tablet to his pool of gadgets.

5. When asked if he had read any book on technology, the closest Purab could recall was Michael Crichton's Prey that features new advances in computing including nanotechnology and artificial intelligence. It was, however, a paperback, not an e-book.

6. Purab also has a ping-pong ball-shaped Bluetooth speaker that sticks to almost any surface. "I use it at home, in my car, and carry it along when I travel," he said.

7. He is now left with a single pair of Sennheiser headphones after he recently lost his Bose headphones while travelling.

8. "I had a 12000mAh portable power bank until my girlfriend took it away lately," said Purab. He had bought that on an Indigo flight for Rs 6000.

9. Purab currently has a PS3 gaming console and is planning to upgrade to PS4 - thought not anytime soon.

10. Photo-editing app VSCO Cam and video editor Camera are two of his favourite phone apps which Purab says he uses the most on his phone. Vine, Indigo, Twitter, Justdial, Facebook, Dropbox also feature on his list of frequently used apps.

11. Purab has changed many phones, including the Nokia 6110 and BlackBerry Curve, since he bought the first phone back in 1999. Though Purab recalls that his first phone was Nokia - he couldn't, even with some effort, recall which model it was.

If he does gift himself the iPhone 6 Plus on this birthday, it will be his 10th.
