Email has come a long way shedding the weight of spam but the good old text message hasn't had great luck. Though there are plenty apps around to help you manage the SMS clutter that flood our inboxes, Ubox wants to do what Gmail did to the email.
Launched in January in beta this year, the app is now available as a 5.15 MB download on Google Play and has a 4.4 star rating there. The app sorts text messages under different labels and makes it easier for the user to distinguish between important and promotional SMSes.
Ubox sorts text messages into Banking, Bills, Bookings, Chats, Promo and Updates and also gives users the to option to turn on or off notifications for select categories. It includes easy swipe gestures to block SMSes from a sender.
While this free app can run along with the default SMS app on Android phones to only read and auto sort text messages, you will need to make Ubox the default messaging app to be able to send text messages through it.
