Blast near Indian consulate in Afghanistan, at least 2 civilians killed

There have been several bomb blasts in Afghanistan over recent weeks at a time when efforts are underway to restart a peace process with the Taliban.

Jalalabad: An explosion took place on Wednesday outside the Pakistani consulate in Jalalabad, Afghanistan. At least two civilians reportedly got killed in the blast.

Notably, the Indian consulate in Jalalabad is at a distance of just 200 metres from the Pakistan consulate. However, all members at the Indian mission are reported to be safe.

The diplomatic area has been cordoned off following the explosion. The Iran consulate is also in the vicinity of the explosion site.

This comes a week after a blast took place near the diplomatic area.

There have been several bomb blasts in Afghanistan over recent weeks at a time when efforts are underway to restart a peace process with the Taliban and ease diplomatic tension between Pakistan and India.
