Of the 70 models that will be unveiled at Auto Expo 2014, here we bring you 10 cars that you shouldn't miss at the show. The 12th New Delhi Auto Expo 2014 runs from February 7 to February 11 at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida, Delhi NCR.
Ford Figo Concept: Ford unveiled the global Figo concept sedan in India. It is a sub 4m sedan which is based on the Ka concept which was showcased in Brazil a few months back. The car will be on showcase at the 12th New Delhi Auto Expo 2014.
Tata Zest, Bolt: Tata Motors unveiled two new models two days before the show begins. The company plans to start selling them in the second half of the year. The cars - Zest, a compact sedan, and Bolt hatchback, will be powered by the company's new Revotron engine series. These two new products are based on the company's enhanced X1 platform, on which the existing Vista and Manza models are built.
Volkswagen Taigun: For 2014 Auto Expo, Volkswagen will not be showing any more updates but will have all-new cars instead. One will be the production-spec version of its compact SUV, the Taigun. The car looks every inch a Volkswagen with its recognizable family face and crossover stance. Bringing in the Taigun may also change Volkswagen India’s fortunes as compact SUVs are currently flying off the shelves.
Hyundai Xcent: Hyundai's new compact sedan will also be displayed at the motor show. The car is sub 4m and will hit the market by March this year.
Honda Mobilio: The Brio-based MPV (Mobilio) will also be on display at Auto Expo 2014. It is slated to be launched in India this year. The Mobilio will take on the Ertiga, Enjoy and the soon to be launched GO+.
Audi A3 sedan: The soon to be launched A3 sedan will be Audi's most compact offering in India. As of now the stripped Q3 S SUV with a manual transmission is the most affordable Audi on sale in India. Whether the A3 will be priced lower than the Q3 S or not remains to be seen.
Datsun GO: The GO hatchback will be displayed in all the colours that will be available to customers. The car will retail for under Rs 4 lakh. It will take on the likes of the Hyundai Eon and Maruti Alto. Inspite of its compact dimensions, the GO will be a spacious car as is evident from the images.
Maruti Celerio: Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) is bidding to its enhance position in the compact car segment with upcoming model Celerio that will cater to a growing demand for vehicles with automatic gear shift at an affordable price. It is the successor to the Alto worldwide and will replace the A-Star and Estilo in India.
The new Honda Jazz: The new Honda Jazz will also be displayed for the first time in India. The previous Jazz didn’t do so well since it was overpriced initially. The new Jazz however will be produced in Honda’s second plant in Tapukara, Rajasthan and will be localized heavily to keep costs low. To make the deal sweeter, HCIL will also have a diesel-engined Jazz for the Indian market.
BMW 3 Series GT: The German manufacturer will launch the BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo at the Auto Expo. The large hatchback was unveiled globally only last year and is now heading here. Expect both the 328i petrol and 320d diesel to go on sale.
