The India Meteorological Department has predicted that winter this year will be colder than usual, as is being witnessed across the country. India is experiencing below normal temperatures, with Delhi witnessing its coldest November morning in 17 years. Temperatures remained extremely low across the state of Uttar Pradesh as well, with Muzaffarnagar shivering at 5.5 degree Celsius. The abnormally cold weather this winter can be explained through La Nina, a climatic pattern that describes the cooling of the surface ocean waters along the tropical west coast of South America.
