Sila Sahin, a 25-year-old Turkish German living in Berlin, had upset her family for going topless for the latest edition of the Playboy Germany cover. She responded to the controversy by saying she wanted to be "free at last" of restrictions of her conservative Turkish background.

Sila posed provocatively on the cover of German Playboy magazine with one breast exposed. Her family, she said, has cut off all contacts with her.
Sila's actor father is apprehensive that she will inevitably face pressure from the Muslim community.
Sila said: I did it because I wanted to be free at last. These photographs are a liberation from the restrictions of my childhood. I want these photos to show young Turkish women it's OK for you to live however you choose.
Sila has said that her mother is still angry with her and that it will be even more difficult for her grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Sila Sahin had until now been regarded as an example of how a modern Muslim girl should behave in a multicultural society.
