Soon after her stint as Miss Universe was over Sushmita made a fory into Bollywood with Dastak (1996).
Her role in David Dhawan's Biwi No.1 opposte Salman Khan won her a Filmfare Award for best supporting actress.
She starred in the 2004 blockbuster Main Hoon Na opposite Shah Rukh Khan.
Though Sushmita was never in the contention for the top actress of Bollywood crown, she has a grace about her that few heroines can match.
There were reports of Sushmita portraying the role of Benazir Bhutto in a film.
In 2010, Sushmita along with Tantra Entertainment Private limited established 'I Am She – Miss Universe India' which now sends its winner to Miss Universe pageant.
The actress has dated actor Randeep Hooda, ad man Manav Menon and then she has been linked with Bunty Sachdev and also with former Pakistani cricket captian Wasim Akram.
Sushmita now wants a biological child. "I will go for biological baby because the clock is ticking for me," she says.
"Every girl wants her prince charming. I have stopped thinking about it long back but still I want it," the former Miss Universe says about her marriage plans.

Sushmita Sen is not only a single mother, but has adopted two girls - Renne and Alisah and has proved to be a caring parent, despite her hectic schedules. In 2000 she adopted Renee and then in January 2010 she brought home a three-month-old baby girl and named her Alisah.
