Reality TV star Rahul Mahajan's second wife Dimpy Ganguly has allegedly accused him of physical abuse and has walked out on him just months after their high-profile wedding on a TV show.
Dimpy has claimed that Rahul hit her after being unable to read a message on her phone but Rahul has denied all these allegations. Interestingly, Rahul's first marriage to his childhood friend Shweta Singh had also ended on similar grounds.
Rahul Mahajan first came in the media glare when his father, politician Pramod Mahajan, was shot by Pravin Mahajan, Rahul's uncle.
Just a month after his father's death, Rahul and his father's secretary Vivek Moitra were admitted to Apollo Hospital here June 2, 2006, after they allegedly consumed contraband drugs laced with alcohol at Pramod Mahajan's then official residence at 7, Safdarjung Road. Moitra died in hospital.
Rahul was later let off drug trafficking charges, which entail a harsher punishment, but was booked for consumption of banned drugs.
The incident dented Rahul Mahajan's chances of following his father's footsteps into the world of politics.
Rahul married Shweta Singh, his former colleague from Jet Airways on August 29, 2006.
A few months after their marriage news reports alleged that Rahul regularly beat his wife Shweta and that the marriage was on the rocks.
In December 2007 Shweta filed for divorce in a Gurgaon court. The divorce case was settled in August 2008.
After a brief sabbatical from the news headlines, Rahul Mahajan made an entry into reality television with Bigg Boss Season 2 on Colors, that began airing on August 17, 2008.
Rahul's Bigg Boss stint was an eventful one with rumours of his affairs with fellow contestants, Payal Rohatgi and Monica Bedi doing the rounds.
Rahul later quit the show after refusing to apologise attempting to to jump out of the Bigg Boss House.
He then appeared as a judge on Color's Chhote Miyan, a children's stand-up comedy reality show.
Then came Rahul's own reality TV show Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega, where he chose his bride from amongst 17 aspirants.
Rahul Mahajan chose 21-year-old Dimpy Ganguly, a model and dancer, over Nikunj Malik, 25, and Harpreet Chhabra, 20, as his bride and the wedding aired on national television.
Now the Rahul-Dimpy marriage also seems to have run into rough weather.
