Dhanush's Bollywood debut not just proved to be a hit at the box office but the performances of the actors were also appreciated. Within two weeks of its release, 'Raanjhanaa' has been able to collect Rs 52 crore at the box office.
While 'Aashiqui' was a blockbuster back in 90s, there were apprehensions on reviving the film yet again with a new story. But Mohit Suri struck gold with h'Aashiqui 2'. Apart from the songs and the performances, the story also got a thumbs up and went onto enter the elite Rs 100 crore club.
On the other hand, Sajid Khan's remake of 1981 film 'Himmatwala' turned out to be the biggest debacle of 2013. After giving hits like 'Housefull', Sajid Khan was quite sure that 'Himmatwala' would do wonders at the box office but it failed miserably.
Preity Zinta's comeback film 'Ishkq In Paris' finally saw the light of the day. Despite exotic locations and Salman Khan's item song, the film could not survive much in thetare and added to the list of flops.
Sudhir Mishra decided to deal with a bold subject of sexual harassment at workplace in his film 'Inkaar' but it fizzled out at the box office due to a bad screenplay. The film was unable to lure audiences to the theatre and collected only Rs 9.5 crore in the opening weekend.
Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan did wonders at the box office with their chemistry in 'The Dirty Picture' and similar was expected from their film 'Ghanchakkar'. But the two actors were unable to cast the same spell and the film did not do much good at the box office as well.
