One of the most prominent faces of Tamil cinema, director J Mahendran breathed his last at his residence in Chennai on April 2, 2019. He was 79. He was hospitalised after brief illness. His son and filmmaker John Mahendran shared the news on Twitter. He wrote, “Director Mahendran passed away this morning.”
Veteran Marathi actor Ramesh Bhatkar passed away after a battle with cancer on Feb 4, 2019. He was 70. The actor, who was suffering from cancer for more than one and a half years, breathed his last at a hospital in Mumbai on World Cancer Day.

TDP founder NTR's son and actor-politician Nandamuri Harikrishna died in a road accident in Telangana's Nalgonda district early on August 29, doctors said. He was 61. Veteran actress Rita Bhaduri, who worked extensively in films and television shows, including the ongoing "Nimki Mukhiya", died on Tuesday, said a source from the hospital where she was admitted for over a week.
