The story starts with Yashvardhan Raichand (Amitabh), his wife Nandini (Jaya) and their adopted son Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan). Their biological son Rohan (Hrithik) is nine years younger to Rahul.
Produced under the banner of Dharma Productions, 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' was released in 2001. It still remains to be one of the best films in the history of Indian cinema.
The Raichands lead a happy life for years. After completing his studies abroad, Rahul comes back home.
His brother Rohan is still in school. Rahul loves Rohan but doesn't miss a single opportunity to tease him.

Meanwhile, Anjali's father passes away and Rahul decides to take care of her and Pooja. Extremely upset with Rahul tying the knot to Anjali, Yashvardhan asks Rahul to leave the house.
Here enters Pooja (Kareena Kapoor). Extremely fashionable Pooja prefers to be called Poo.
Meanwhile, Rohan also shifts to London and starts looking for his brother. He meets Poo in college and convinces her to help him.
The film ends with Pooja and Rohan tying the knot. Sometime back their were reports of Karan Johar planning a sequel to 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham'. Let's wait and watch whether that's true or not...
