It's Friday and it's popcorn and movie time once again. Here is a preview of the box-office fare being served up this weekend.
Following last week's multi-starrer action adventure Dhoom-2, there is a lull at the box office. The sole Hindi release is a relatively low-budget small town achy-breaky love story called With Luv...Tumhara.
Written and directed by debutant Kamal Nathani, the film stars Pravin Dabas (Rahul) who is engaged to marry Anupama Verma (Neha) and Priti Jhangiani (Anuradha) who once having lost her love, vows never to love again.
So where's the twist? Anuradha's pa-in-law wants her to start afresh by marrying Rahul who leaves his finace and obediently falls in love with Anuradha. But before matters can be come to a head, Rahul's fiance shows up and whisks him away.
A complicated love story in which everyone leaves everyone at least once - With Luv... Tumhara may not have many takers.
From the Hollywood stable comes A Good Year which sees the reunion of the Oscar winning duo of director Ridley Scott and actor Russel Crowe.
A far cry from their previous hit Gladiator, A Good Year stars Crowe as a money spinning investment banker based in cold grey London. The unexpected death of an old uncle takes Russell back to the picturesque southern France where he grew up.
Planning to sell the vineyard he has inherited to make even more money, Crowe does not foresee that the sun-kissed climate, laid back lifestyle and good wine will forever alienate him from the challenge of the stock market that occupied his life till then.
A feel good movie, reassuring that ultimately money doesn't buy happiness. So if you are headed for the movies this week - your choice is made!
