Hollywood actor Christian Bale turned 45 on Saturday. The Academy Award winning actor is known for his method acting and has transformed drastically for some of the roles that he has played. At the age of 26, Christian played one of his most remarkable roles as Patrick Bateman in American Psycho. In the 2000 movie, Christian’s character was a rich businessman who was also a serial killer and quite obsessed with his self-image and physical appearance. In an interview to The Guardian Christian had revealed that he even got dental work done to straighten his smile and remove a gap between his front teeth. He was also very much into dieting and working out to enhance his muscular frame.
In 2004 Christian lost over 27 kilograms to play the role of an insomniac for The Machinist. The psycho-thriller was a story about a man named Trevor Reznik who had an almost malnourished appearance and suffered from lack of sleep.
Soon after the release of The Machinist, Christian gained 45 kilograms to play one of his most memorable roles in Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins
In 2013 the actor gained over 100 kilograms with a beer belly to play the role of a con artist Irving Rosenfeld in American Hustle. The drastic transformation came after Christian played the fit and fine Batman in the last instalment of The Dark Knight series in 2012.
One of his most recent roles where he almost looked unrecognisable was in 2018 movie Vice. Christian Bale portrayed the role of former US Vice President Dick Cheney. The actor gained over 18 kilograms for the role and spent a lot of time in hair and makeup to look like the Washington bureaucrat.
