It is perhaps because of her bold statements, confident personality and lively performances that Kushboo Is regarded as one of southern cinema’s most maverick personalities at present. Today, as the popular actress turns a year older, we take a closer look at her personal and professional life.
Kushboo entered the film industry as a child artiste, essaying a role in the 1976 Kannada movie ‘Raja Nanna Raja’.
Kushboo’s first film in a lead role ‘Kaliyuga Pandavulu’ was released in 1986. In it, she was paired opposite Venkatesh.
In the years that followed, she acted alongside some of southern cinema biggest stars such as Kamal Haasan and Mammootty.
In 2000, Kushboo tied the knot with noted actor-director Sundar.
Kushboo and Sundar have two daughters. Their elder daughter was born in 2000.
In 2005, found herself in the midst of a controversy when during an interview she supported pre-marital sex. Several cases were filed against her; however, they were dismissed by the Supreme Court shortly thereafter.
Born into a Mulsim family, Kushboo considers herself to be an atheist.
Besides films, Kushboo has also acted in Television serials. Her most notable TV serial include ‘Kalki’ and ‘Paartha Gnabagam Illayo’.
Interestingly, the actress is quite fluent in Tamil, Telugu, English, Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi. Her command over these languages has gone a long way in helping Kushboo broaden her professional prospects.
