During the Dadabhaisaheb Phalke Award ceremony held at Prithvi Theatre in Mumbai on Sunday, one got to see actor Shashi Kapoor's family playing perfect hosts to guests.

The veteran actor met theatre actress Jennifer Kendal in Kolkata in 1956 while working with their respective theater groups.
The Kendals and Kapoors initially opposed the couple's relationship but eventually agreed and Shashi and Jennifer Kapoor got married in 1958. The couple had three children, Kunal, Karan and Sanjana.
Jennifer Kendal was a noted theatre and film actress and was part of films like '36 Chowringhee Lane' and 'Junoon'. Kendal and her husband were also instrumental in the rejuvenation of Prithvi Theatre in Bombay, with the opening of their theatre in Juhu, Bombay in 1978, which is today one of the most important theatre destinations in the city. The actress died after battling Cancer in 1984.
Shashi and Jennifer Kapoor's eldest son Kunal tried his hand in acting and did a few Bollywood films including 'Ahista Ahista'. Kunal later quit acting and set up and advertising agency.
Kunal was married to filmmaker Ramesh Sippy's daughter Sheena, a well known photographer (the lady on the left). The couple have two children together, Shaira and Zahan. Kunal and Sheena are now divorced.

Shashi Kapoor's younger son, Karan was a well known model and actor in the early 1980s.
Karan Kapoor is best remembered for his role in 'Sultanat' which featured Juhi Chawla as his female lead. Karan later quit acting and is now an established photographer in London. He has two children.
Shashi Kapoor's daughter, Sanjana Kapoor acted in films like 'Hero Hiralal' but hosted a travel show on TV before taking over Prithvi Theatre which is now run by her.
Sanjana was briefly married to filmmaker Aditya Bhattacharya, son of director Basu Bhattacharya. The couple got divorced and Sanjana later married conservationist and wildlife photographer Valmik Thapar.
Sanjana and Valmik Thapar have a son, Hamir. The teenager was also present with his parents during Sunday's ceremony.
The event saw a part of the Kapoor family coming together to wish the veteran actor. Post the ceremony, the family posed for a picture.
