Remembering Raj Kapoor: The real Showman

Bollywood actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor was born on 14 December, 1924. He passed away in 1988

Raj Kapoor was born in Peshawar. Prithviraj Kapoor and Ramsarni were his parents.

Raj Kapoor appeared in 'Inquilab' when he was just 11 years old. He made many film appearances in next 12 years.

Apart from his home productions, Raj Kapoor starred in many other successful films. 'Anari', 'Chhalia' and 'Teesri Kasam' to name a few.

He produced, directed and acted in 'Mera Naam Joker'. Despite of its hype, the film failed at box office.

He got his big break with Neel Kamal in 1947.

As reports claim, Raj Kapoor and Nargis had a longtime romantic relationship. They did many films together, which includes 'Awaara' and 'Shree 420'.

In 1948, Raj Kapoor established RK Films and became the youngest Indian director of his time. At 24 he directed his first film 'Aag'.

In 'Aag', Raj Kapoor and Nargis came together for the first time.

Raj Kapoor's look in many films was inspired from Charlie Chaplin.

Raj and Krishna had five children together. Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Ritu Nanda, Reema Jain and Rajiv Kapoor.

'Mera Naam Joker' was his most ambitious film. He spent almost six years in completing the film.

Raj Kapoor was married to Krishna Malhotra.

Now three of his grand children, Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Karishma Kapoor are going great guns in Bollywood.

Raj Kapoor died at the age of 63. At that time he was working on a film titled 'Heena'.

Raj Kapoor's kids and now grand children have carried his legacy forward.
