Bollywood movies based on the lives of Indian solider have always made its mark in the minds of the audience.
'Haqeeqat': The film is said to be on the earliest attempt by filmmakers to bring the hardships of Indian soldiers on-screen. Based on the Sino-Indian war of 1962, the film was directed by Chetan Anand and starred Balraj Sahni and Dharmendra in the leading roles.
'Lalkaar' brought on screen the legendary fight between the Indian army and Japanese invaders in Burma during World War II. Directed by Ramanand Sagar the film starred Dharmendra, Mala Sinha and Rajendra Kumar in lead roles.
'Aakraman': The film though was a work of fiction but had traces of the 1971 war. The movie starred Ashok Kumar and Sanjeev Kumar.
'Border': One of the iconic films based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war, JP Dutta's 'Border' broke all box office records. The film had a huge star cast of Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty and Akshay Khanna.
'LOC Kargil': JP Dutta carried his legacy of making war-films when he directed L.O.CD Kargil. Based on the 1999 Indo-Pak war, the movie saw Saif Ali Khan shed his chocolate boy image and become a full-fledged soldier alongside Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgn and Suniel Shetty.
'Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyon': Directed by Anil Sharma and starring Akshay Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, Bobby Deol 'Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo' was based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war.
'Shaurya': The film, directed by Samar Khan, revolves around the court-martial of a Muslim officer, Javed Khan. Javed is held for shooting his commanding officer. The film is set against the backdrop of the Kashmir Conflict in Northern India.
'Lakshya': Karan Shergill (Hrithik Roshan) lived in a bubble and couldn't care less about the world until he lands in the army. The movie inspires one to join the army, or at least snap out of a passive state.
'Heros': Directed by Samir Karnik the movie was a beautiful tale of reminding people of the sacrifices made by the soldiers and their families. The film starring Salman Khan, Sunny Deol, Suhail Khan, Bobby Deol was a fresh take on Indian Army Men's life.
'1971': The film was about six soldiers in the film plan to escape from Pakistan and return to India. But their biggest challenge is to dodge the intelligence and the security forces who are keeping a watch on them all the time.
