It's a great day for Kollywood's Ilayathalapathy Vijay as the actor's film 'Thuppakki' completes 100 days of running in theaters.
'Thuppakki' released all over India on 13 November last year coinciding with Diwali.
The film saw composer Harris Jayaraj collaborating with director A R Murugadoss for the third time.
'Thuppakki', which had a budget of Rs 70 crore, collected Rs 182.41 crore at the Box Office.
The Telugu-dubbed version of the film that released simultaneously under the same title in Andhra Pradesh, was also very well received.
Actor Kajal Agarwal who plays the female lead portrayed the character of Nisha in the movie.
After the first three days of it's release 'Thuppakki' collected around 22.25 crore.
Incidently a feature film starring Tom Cruise as 'Jack Reacher', was released in the year 2012 as well.
In the film, Vijay's character Jagdish is an army intelligence investigator which is similar to Tom Cruise's character in 'Jack Reacher'.
After a few days of it's release, a city court stayed advertisements of 'Thuppakki', based on a civil suit filed by a former assistant director who claimed that he had already registered another title 'Kalla Thuppakki' along with the logo to be used in the advertisements.
Also upon 'Thuppakki's release, an Islamic group violently protested against the film, claiming that it portrayed Muslims as terrorists and traitors.
The director, producer and Vijay's father S A Chandrasekar later apologised to representatives of 23 different Muslim outfits, and agreed to delete the scenes to which objections were raised.
Written and directed by A R Murugadoss, the Tamil flick features actors Vijay and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead.
Actors Vidyut Jamwal, Jayaram and Sathyan are part of the supporting cast.
Reports say on the opening day, the film collected around 9.25 crore in the Tamil Nadu box office alone.
