Xiaomi has launched the next-generation Mi Smart Band 6 for the global market (called Mi Band 6 in China) with an improved display and more fitness mode. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the new Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6 has also added the ability to read the blood oxygen level with the Sp02 sensor though the company notes that readings are only meant for personal fitness tracking and should not be relied on for any medical purposes. The fitness tracker will compete against devices such as the OnePlus Band that falls in the same price segment. Both Mi Smart Band 6 and OnePlus Band offer 14 days of battery life per charge. In case you are wondering how the two devices fare against each other, here's a comparison of their specifications and pricing.
The Mi Smart Band 6 (picture above) features a 1.56-inch (152 x 486 pixels) 'full' AMOLED touchscreen display that is bigger than its predecessor, the Mi Band 5 that comes with a 1.1-inch AMOLED touchscreen display. The Mi Band 6 has a 326ppi pixel density and 450 nits of peak brightness, which is said to be 50 percent brighter than its predecessor. The OnePlus Band sports a 1.1-inch AMOLED display with touch-support and 126x294 pixels resolution. Both the fitness bands come with a pill-shaped panel.
The Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6 now supports 30 sports modes (11 on Mi Smart Band 5) and can auto-detect six activities including walking, running, indoor treadmill, and cycling. It comes with an array of sensors to help monitor blood pressure, blood oxygen (SpO2), and heart-rate monitoring. The Xiaomi fitness band also supports sleep monitoring. On the other hand, the OnePlus Band (picture above) supports 13 exercise modes. Its sensors onboard are the same as the counterpart.
Some other notable features on the OnePlus Band include Bluetooth v5.0, an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, and a 100mAh battery that is touted to provide 14 days of battery life per charge. Whereas, Mi Smart Band 6 carries a 125mAh battery claimed to deliver a standby time of up to 14 days. The band takes about two hours to charge and supports Bluetooth v5.0. In terms of pricing, Mi Smart Band 6 (picture above) comes with a price tag of EUR 44.99 (roughly Rs 3,900) though the India-specific pricing could be lower. The OnePlus Band is available in the country at 2,499.
