Mozilla has released its first version of its reworked Firefox web browser customised for the upcoming Microsoft Windows 8 operating system.
The development for the new browser began earlier this year. Google Chrome had also come up with Windows 8 Metro user interface support a few months ago.
The Firefox Metro preview for Windows 8 will run on both the Windows 8 'classic Desktop' environment as well as the new 'Metro' environment.
Users running the RTM release of Windows 8 can download and install a nightly build of Mozilla Firefox and start testing.
The preview includes a new Metro style Firefox Start page, support for Firefox Sync, Metro touch and swipe gestures.
This is an early preview and and there are bugs and missing features.
Mozilla will keep on adding more features to the Firefox Metro browser for Windows 8.
