Meghan, Britain’s Duchess of Sussex, has given birth to her second child, a baby girl, whom she and husband Prince Harry have named after Queen Elizabeth and his late mother Princess Diana. Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor was born on Friday at the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California, with Harry in attendance. The birth follows a tumultuous year for the couple, who have stepped down from royal duties and moved to the United States to live more independent lives, but rarely been seen out of the public spotlight.
Roger Federer Withdraws from French Open 2021 Despite Reaching Fourth Round
Roger Federer has pulled out of French Open 2021 after a gruelling four-set victory over Dominik Koepfer in the third round on Saturday night. Federer had said after the match that he was unsure if he will be able to play further. He said he would listen to his body and make his decision. Federer had a tough second round victory over Marin Cilic as well, which took a lot out of him. On Saturday night, he played in the newly-introduced night session, which is played behind closed doors. After two tie-breakers in the first and the second set, Federer looked like struggling in the third set before he somehow snuck that out. Even in the fourth set, he took it 7-5.
AIIMS Delhi to Begin Conducting Trials of Covaxin on Children from Monday, Says Report
The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi plans to begin clinical trials of Bharat Biotech’s Covid-19 vaccine “Covaxin” on children, news agency ANI cited sources as saying. AIIMS Patna has been already been conducting a Paediatric clinical trial of Covaxin after Bharat Biotech gained approval from the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) to begin paediatric clinical studies on May 11. At AIIMS Patna, trials for children aged 12 to 18 have begun. Following this, trials will be conducted for the age groups of 6-12 years and 2-6 years, Dr Prabhat Kumar Singh, Director, AIIMS, Patna, told the news agency.

Legendary actor Dilip Kumar was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai on Sunday morning after experiencing “episodes of breathlessness”. Kumar, 98, was taken to the suburban Khar-based Hinduja Hospital, a non-COVID-19 facility, around 8.30 AM, his wife and veteran actor Saira Banu said. “He was unwell today morning and had breathlessness. He is now here at Khar Hinduja non-COVID hospital for investigations,” Banu told PTI. According to an update posted on Kumar’s official Twitter handle, the actor has been admitted to the medical facility for routine tests and investigations.

The Centre has placed an advance order for 30 crore doses of a vaccine being created by the Hyderabad-based Biological-E called Corbevax. Not only is it an indigenous vaccine, it also could potentially be the cheapest vaccine available in India when it finally launches. So, what makes Corbevax tick? The vaccine has received the nod for Phase III clinical trials in India after showing promising results in phases I and II. The Centre will pay Rs 1,500 crore for its consignment of 30 crore doses. Corbevax, like most other Covid-19 jabs out so far, is a two-dose vaccine.

Fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi has claimed in an affidavit that he is a “law-abiding citizen” and had left India only for medical treatment in the United States. He further said that he had invited the authorities to “interview” him about anything as part an investigation that maybe underway against him. Choksi, who filed the affidavit before the Dominica High Court where a plea for his deportation to India is being heard, said did not evade law enforcement and there was no warrant against him when he left the country.
