As Diwali festivities pick up, people across the country will be on a shopping spree on Tuesday. The day is considered auspicious for buying jewellery and utensils. It's a custom which mostly Marwaris, Gujaratis, Maharashtrians and some North Indian communities have followed for ages. All eyes will be on the Sensex to see if it can hit higher levels than Monday. The Sensex surged nearly 1.3 per cent to over 26,000 at the closing session on Monday owing to stellar performance by the BJP in the Maharashtra and Haryana state elections.
