Jewelry designer Farah Khan Ali and playback singer Abhijeet have received a lot of flak on twitter post their respective tweets supporting Salman Khan went viral. CNN-IBN's Ananya Dasgupta managed to speak to both of them and asked for a clarification.
Farah Khan Ali, who is the wife of DJ Aqueel, had tweeted "The government should be responsible for housing people. If no one was sleeping on d road in any other country Salman would not have driven over anybody."
According to Farah Khan Ali, the law is too harsh, and that 5 years too long a sentence for something like this. When she was asked if she felt her tweet was making a mockery of poor people, she said that she didn't mock the poor, she mocked the government.
Farah said that she is entitled to her opinion in spite of being a little impartial to Salman Khan as he is a friend.
Bollywood playback singer Abhijeet on the other hand was more callous in his tweets and the subsequent explanation on the phone call. Abhijeet had tweeted "Kutta road pe soyega kutte ki maut marega, roads garib ke baap ki nahi hai I was homeless for a year never slept on road."
Upon being asked, Abhijeet said that he never mentioned anything about Salman Khan. He was in fact raising an issue.
He says that he was homeless for more than one year and used to look for a safe place to sleep at night during that period. He claims that he used to sleep on a bench at Khar station, in Mumbai.
According to him, the media is making his statement look like a mockery of the poor, which it was not. Abhijeet feels that human beings should sleep like human beings and not like dogs and that a footpath is not any place where one should sleep.
Upon further questioning, the playback singer chose to disconnect the phone call.
