With the Assembly election results setting the stage for an interesting battle between the Congress and BJP next year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday tore into Gandhi family on their home turf Raebareli to launch his campaign for the general elections. Taking a dig at the Italian origins of Sonia Gandhi, who represents Raebareli in the Lok Sabha, Modi said that the Congress party was "agitated" and telling "lies" as there was no Quattrocchi or Christian Michel mama in BJP government's defence deals.
In his first public meeting in Sonia Gandhi's bastion after the BJP lost the three heartland states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to the Congress and its allies, Modi accused the Congress of aligning with forces that do not want to see India's defence forces becoming strong.
