AAP Offer: Appeasement Politics Or Women's Interest?

Seven years after the brutal Nirbhaya gangrape took place, there's a measure now supposedly aimed at ensuring that such incidents don't recur in Delhi. The Kejriwal government has come out with a proposal to make bus and metro rides free for women. The decision comes days after the Aam Aadmi Party was completely routed in the Lok Sabha polls and months ahead of assembly elections in Delhi. The proposal is thus being seen as an effort by AAP to corner the BJP, since Delhi Metro is partly run by the Central government and state. Is the step aimed at appeasing angry voters or is it for women's safety?
