New Delhi: Asaram's absconding son Narayan Sai has been arrested by the police from the Delhi-Haryana border in the rape and sexually assault cases. He has been arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi police. He had been absconding for the past 59 days.
Meanwhile, Rohini court gave a 24-hour transit remand to Surat Police. Narayan Sai to be produced in Surat on Thursday.
Narayan Sai has been declared as a proclaimed absconder by a court for evading arrest in connection with the sexual assault case. Earlier, a court has also issued non-bailable warrants against him.
The Gujarat Police had on Sunday arrested two close aides of Sai in Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh. The Gujarat Police has raided at least five states in the last two months.
The Police had booked Asaram and Sai on charges of rape, sexual assault, illegal confinement and other offences on the complaint lodged by the sisters.
While the younger sister accused Sai of repeated raping her between 2002 and 2005 when she was leaving in Surat Ashram, the elder one accused Asaram of sexual assaults between 1997 and 2006 when she had been living in his ashram, located on the outskirts of
Asaram (75) was arrested in August on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl at his Jodhpur ashram in Rajasthan and was lodged in jail there.
He was brought to city and interrogated in connection with the sexual assault complaint before he was taken back to Jodhpur.
The complaint against Sai was registered at Jehangirpura police station in Surat, while the one against Asaram was transferred to Ahmedabad as the alleged incident happened there.
