Surat: Self-styled godman Asaram's son Narayan Sai has reportedly admitted to raping a woman during interrogation, said police on Wednesday. Sai was grilled by Surat police for several hours.
"During the remand period we rigorously interrogated Narayan Sai. During that time he more or less admitted to the rape charge as well as that the son born to his suspected accomplice is his own," said Surat police commissioner Rakesh Asthana. "There are many things he has not revealed yet. We will ask for extended remand," he added.
Sai along with his father is accused of raping two women in Surat. He was arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police from the Delhi-Haryana border on December 4 last week after several days on the run.
The police had booked Asaram and Sai on charges of rape, sexual assault, illegal confinement and other offences on the complaint lodged by the two sisters.
While the younger sister accused Sai of repeatedly raping her between 2002 and 2005 when she was leaving in Surat Ashram, the elder one accused Asaram of sexual assaults between 1997 and 2006 when she had been living in his ashram.
Asaram, too, is in the jail for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor in his Jodhpur Ashram.
