New Delhi: In a new twist in the 2G trial case, the Supreme Court has called for records of the probe against ADAG-owned Reliance Telecom and Shahid Balwa's Swan Telecom after the Central Bureau of Investigation asked for a stay on the trial claiming new information.
Allegations have been hurled at CBI Director Ranjit Sinha for attempting to derail the entire trial process. The allegation was made by an NGO Centre for Public Interest Litigation in the apex court on Tuesday, where it said that a CBI officer at the instance of Sinha wrote a note to CBI public prosecutor UU Lalit, saying that he should seek a stay on the trial proceedings.
It said that the CBI Director believes that Reliance and Swan Telecom have been wrongly implicated in this case and the chargesheet against them has been filed on a wrong premise and this matter needs to be investigated further. UU Lalit has written a separate 3-page note to the Director in which he has said that the CBI shouldn't take a step like this as it will amount to interfering with the trial process.
