Mumbai: In a more trouble for Mumbaikars as the BEST workers strike has entered second day on Wednesday. This despite a High Court order asking the bus drivers and conductors to resume work. The workers union has said that are planing to appeal in a higher court.
The BEST buses in Mumbai have gone off the roads as 26,000 drivers and conductors are on a strike over the new computerised scheduling system which will led to longer longer working hours. The drivers and conductors had a dispute with the management over the new scheduling system. At least 335 BEST routes have been affected.
BEST runs the public bus service in Mumbai, a major feeder for the local trains.
About 50 lakh students have been affected. "School exams are going on. My daughter has an exam today but she is waiting here for a bus instead," said a resident.
