Mumbai: Bollywood couples in the past shied away from giving the media any access to their private lives. Most relationships were hinted at and were a source of scandal in film magazines. However, times have changed and today's generation of stars are not coy about talking about their relationship status.
New age couples such as Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor aren't hush-hush about the status of their relationship. Who can forget Saif's declaration of his love for Kareena - the tattoo of her name on his arm.
"Not shouting from the roof tops, but we are together. And yes we are very happy, thank you," said Saif.
Though girlfriend Kareena has a different take on the matter, "It's funny how they (media) are dissecting our personal lives," she said.
With Saif Ali Khan declaring his love for Kareena Kapoor openly, it opened a new chapter in Bollywood's love story. With more and more couples ready to admit their relationship status not just on Facebook, but to the rest of the world.
While newcomers earlier denied their relationships because it won't fit their lover boy image, today's rising stars such as Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone prefer to set the record straight.
"It was not plotted or anything, we just felt it was the right time to be honest and admit to our relationship. We won't discuss the details of our personal lives," said Deepika.
Under the persistent media glare, today's bedroom secrets can often be tomorrow's headlines
And it was the questions on when he's getting married to Katrina Kaif, that drove Bollywood's eternal bachelor boy Salman to finally admit his relationship.
"That question was asked so often that I said, we'll get married in one year. Now that one year is on my head, let's see how this year goes," said Salman.
Newcomers Kangana Ranaut and Adhyayan Suman's relationship has also been under the media scanner, especially since the release of their film Raaz - The Mystery Continues.
"The media has been writing a lot about us, but that's the price we pay as celebrities," said the couple.
However, when in doubt about the relationship, Bollywood couples use the cliche lines. Like Hurman Baweja and Priyanka call each other "good friends".
