Collegium's word final on SC judge appointment says Soli Sorabjee

New Delhi: Shedding light on the proposed appointment of judges to the Supreme Court of India, eminent jurist and former Attorney General of India Soli Sorabjee told CNN-News18 that the collegium has final word on appointment of judges and the government cannot block the elevation of Justice K M Joseph to the Supreme Court if the collegium recommends his appointment.

Former Attorney General of India added that “The law is very clear, the government only has a voice not a veto as far as appointments of judges to the apex court is concerned and if the collegium, after considering the point of view of the government remains firm on its recommendation then it is binding on the government."
