Pune: With no arrests even a month after rationalist Narendra Dabholkar's murder, a PIL now seeks transfer of the case to NIA, saying that the Maharshtra government was aware of threats to Dabholkar. 
 
"We are not satisfied with the probe. We are unhappy that even after one month, the killers remain at large," said Dabholkar's daughter Mukta Dabholkar. The anguished daughter questioned as to why there has been no headway in the probe even a month after her father was shot dead in Pune in broad daylight. 
 
The murder that sparked outrage and protests across Maharashtra led to the police forming 19 teams to probe the case. CCTV footage from as many as 150 cameras that was expected to provide some leads proved to be a dead end. 
 
The Maharshtra government had pointed fingers at right wing Hindu groups like the Sanathan Sansthan and a number of sanathan activists were questioned. Sandeep Shinde, who was detained by the Pune police from Goa, was released after the police failed to get any leads. 
 
"We are probing every possible angle. It is a wide canvas. But the investigation is on track," said Pune ACP Rajendra Bhambre. 
 
Meanwhile, a PIL has sought the tranfer of the case to the NIA. The petition states that Dabholkar was receiving threats for quite some time and the Maharashtra government was aware of this. It says the Pune police could have prepared a threat perception report and monitored his movements. 
 
The protests in the wake of Dabholkar's killing had prompted the Maharashtra government to clear the anti-superstition ordinance, a piece of legislation the rationalist was campioning for two decades. 
 
The Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmoolan Samiti, Dabholkar's family and fellow activists will meet leaders of all political parties to champion a country level legislation against black magic and superstition. They beleive that would be the best way to honour the memory of Dr Dabholkar.
