The villagers, who were staging a protest in neck-deep water for most than 15 days, were forcefully pulled out of the water and evicted from the site by police on Wednesday. The villagers want the Indira Sagar Dam level to go down by two notches at 260 metres. But the government plans to raise it further, which could inundate 19 villages. In fact, three villages have already submerged. Ironically, the severe crackdown in Harda came two days after the government gave in to a similar Jal Satyagraha in Khandwa.
