Heat wave across North India

New Delhi: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that Rajasthan has been the hottest this season, with Churu recording a maximum of 45 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Delhi also hit 44 degrees on May 5.

It is not going to get much cooler either, the Met department said that this is normal for summer with temperatures in Delhi to hover between 41 and 42 degrees Celsius. Uttar Pradesh is also facing the heat with the likelihood of a heat wave in the coming five to six days. Allahabad recorded temperatures of 44 degrees Celsius which is the maximum. The Met department said that this is slightly above normal but not yet a heat wave.

IMD official M Duraiswamy said, "The temperatures have gone upto three degrees above normal in most regions. Uttar Pradesh is right now the hottest in North India. Within a week East UP is likely to experience heat wave."
